A little more about me…

Because of a lifelong struggle with anxiety and depression, I have spent much of my life seeking wellness, exploring different modalities to help ground, heal and reclaim my life.

Mindfulness

On the wild and sometimes weird journey of wellness, I was introduced to Mindfulness meditation which completely shifted how I view my life and the world around me. Mindfulness not only significantly decreased my depression and anxiety, but it increased my capacity to experience joy and love in daily life.

Mindfulness is the basic human ability to be fully present, aware of where we are and what we’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around us. While mindfulness is something we all naturally possess, it’s more readily available to us when we practice on a daily basis. Research has shown mindfulness can:

  • Decrease Anxiety & Depression

  • Increase Well-Being, Positive Affect & Concentration

  • Improve Quality of Sleep & Immune System Function

  • Improve Communication & Work Performance

I have felt these positive effects in my own life and hope to share the benefits with you as well!

After studying for years with teachers in and around Los Angeles, CA, I enrolled in UCLA’s Mindful Awareness Research Center (MARC) training program to become a UCLA Trained Mindfulness Facilitator and now work with individuals and groups to help bring this life changing practice into their daily lives!

Reiki

Discovering Reiki was the icing on the cake (I love cake) in the journey. This ancient Japanese healing technique uses energy to restore balance and harmony to the body, mind and spirit, has empowered me to further heal myself so I became a certified Reiki Master to offering this healing to my clients as well.

Reiki can:

  • Relieve pain, anxiety and fatigue

  • Accelerate healing

  • Promote deep relaxation and better sleep

  • Assist the body in cleansing toxins and supporting immune system

  • Balance the flow of subtle energy by releasing blockages

  • Help the client contact the 'healer within.'

  • Boost mood and improve overall quality of life

Why Practice?

I once read a quote that life is not a performance, it’s one long dress rehearsal. Coming from a theater background, this really resonated with me but I can’t say it’s how I have approached my life. In fact, I have spent so much of my life believing that each moment is some pivotal, final performance where I need to get everything just right or nothing will be ok. This led to debilitating anxiety where I would quit, or not start things at all, in fear that they wouldn’t be perfect.

But mindfulness opened my eyes to a different way to live. In meditation we have a formal and informal practice. There is no right or wrong way to meditate, there is no test to pass, no place to get to, just the chance to show up each day, in each moment and see what’s there.

So, I wondered what would happen if I tried to take away that pressure, quiet the perfectionism and treat each moment of my life as a chance to practice? Practice being in the moment. Practice being kind to myself and others. Practice giving and receiving love. And though it’s not always easy, it has been life changing. What a relief to allow myself to be a human and just show up and try! To know more joy than I thought possible just by being present. And this is what I feel called to share!

Whether through helping you build a formal meditation practice, clearing out what’s no longer working for you with a Reiki Reading or some combination, my goal is to help you let go of “doing it right” and practice what matters. Practice reconnecting to yourself and reclaiming your innate power and beauty.
