It's Time to Embrace Your Dark Side. 😈

I can't believe we are in our last few days of October but I have been loving the changing energy as we enter Scorpio season. Darker evenings, cooler weather, and the pull to slow down and go inwards.

Embracing Darkness

In my group healing all about finding balance this week, this theme of embracing darkness came up and I wanted to share some of the highlights with you. Energetically the invitation was for all of us to explore darkness and our shadow sides in a way that feels safe, and maybe even fun.

Overcommitted

Many of us have such a commitment to the "light", or what we deem good & socially acceptable. This may manifest in your life as perfectionism, hyper-productivity, always appearing upbeat/easy-going/happy. But this commitment can become a source of great imbalance in our lives.

Because the truth is that we only know light because we know darkness. Just like we only know joy because we know sadness, love because we know loss, and on and on. And yet many of us (🙋🏻‍♀️) still label the darker side of life (grief, pain, hurt, anger, etc.) as bad. So we only want the good. But the message came through loud and clear as we go into this season to try to embrace, and re-relate to, our own darkness. To play in the depths of who we are, not just what we see as good, comfortable, or acceptable. There is so much nourishment and balance to be found there.

How to Deal with the Dark

So next time you feel a "dark" or challenging emotion come up in you, can you make a little more space for it? Get curious about what it's trying to tell you. Maybe you can treat it as a welcome friend the same way you would a moment of joy or love.

No better time than Halloweekend to start this exploration, yes?
